About the Passport

More Than a Collection of Badges

Your SkillsUSA experience is more than a single event, competition, or leadership position. Every opportunity to learn, lead, serve, and grow contributes to your development as a career-ready professional.

The SkillsUSA Tennessee College/Postsecondary Career-Ready Passport brings those experiences together. Through digital badges, students can build a record of their participation, achievements, and progress throughout their SkillsUSA journey.

Whether you're attending your first jumpSTART, serving as a chapter officer, competing in the SkillsUSA Championships, or developing the Essential Elements of the SkillsUSA Framework, your journey matters.

Career-Ready Scholar

17 Essential Elements

Demonstration or Mastery in every element

3 Verified Capstones

LEAD • SERVE • APPLY

Three Ways to Demonstrate Career Readiness

Students have multiple ways to meet each capstone. Experiences may come from SkillsUSA, their college, employment, or other approved settings.

01

LEAD

Leadership in Action

Demonstrate leadership by organizing, guiding, mentoring, or influencing others toward a meaningful outcome.

Possible pathways
  • Lead a chapter activity or initiative
  • Demonstrate leadership as a chapter or state officer
  • Mentor other students
  • Lead a classroom or workplace team

Holding a title or attending an event alone is not sufficient. Students must demonstrate leadership in action.

02

SERVE

Service and Advocacy

Demonstrate meaningful service or advocacy that benefits others, the community, Career and Technical Education, or SkillsUSA.

Possible pathways
  • Complete a community service project
  • Serve through SkillsUSA Courtesy Corps
  • Advocate for CTE or SkillsUSA
  • Support an approved community initiative

Students must document their contribution and the benefit of the service or advocacy.

03

APPLY

Career and Technical Skills in Action

Apply career or technical knowledge and skills in an authentic, verifiable setting.

Possible pathways
  • Demonstrate technical skills in a SkillsUSA competition
  • Earn an industry-recognized credential
  • Complete work-based learning or an internship
  • Apply technical skills in employment, clinical experience, or a project

Competition is one pathway, not a requirement. Evidence must demonstrate real application of career or technical skills.

How Are Capstones Verified?

Students provide evidence of their accomplishment. Verification may come from an advisor, instructor, employer, community representative, or the State Office, depending on the activity.

Students do not need to travel, win a competition, or hold state office to qualify.

After review and approval, completed capstones appear in the student's Career-Ready Passport.

Advisors may request Awareness, Demonstration, or Mastery recognition based on documented performance.

For Requested Advisor Verification

Advisor Credential Verification

Confirm, decline, or correct a participant's submitted credential when the State Office requests review.

This form is intended for authorized advisors responding to a specific verification request.
